Taskil is a PhD student at the Australian National University, supervised by Prof. Hoe Tan of the Semiconductor Optics and Nanotechnology Group. His PhD project focuses on achieving efficient, electrically-injected nanolasing at room-temperature. This project takes a complete approach to nanolaser design and fabrication, working from simulations through to characterisation. Taskil completed a double degree of Science (Advanced) (Honours) and Arts at ANU in 2025, and his Honours thesis was titled Metasurfaces to Enhance Perovskite Light Emission. As a part of his bachelor’s degrees, Taskil completed majors in Physics, Climate Science, and Japanese.
