Dr. Duk-Yong Choi is a Senior Fellow at the Laser Physics Centre, Australian National University (ANU). He earned his B.S. (1992), M.S. (1994), and Ph.D. (1998) in Materials Science and Engineering from Seoul National University, South Korea. He subsequently worked as a process engineer at Samsung Electronics until 2004. Since joining ANU in 2005, Dr. Choi has focused his research on chalcogenide (ChG) photonics, silicon photonics, and nanophotonics (metasurfaces in particular). He has played a leading role in advancing the development and fabrication of photonic materials and devices through extensive domestic and international collaborations. Dr. Choi has authored over 200 peer-reviewed journal articles, accumulating more than 19,000 citations and achieving an h-index of 72 (as of Feb 2026).
