Date: 5th June 2022
Time: 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Location: Shepparton Library, 41-42 Marungi St, VIC
Public Outreach

As part of the Centre’s celebration of the International Day of Light 2022, TMOS researcher, Shaban Sulejman, is presenting a hands-on workshop about light to the Shepparton community.

We will discuss the story of light, from antiquity to the future of meta-optics. Learn about the sun, fire, lenses, electromagnetism, refraction, diffraction, interference, photons, lasers and the exciting world of meta-optics!

Replicate some of the historical experiments which led to some of the biggest discoveries in light! Learn how to physically demonstrate these exciting concepts at home.

TMOS is the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Transformative Meta-Optical Systems. We generate, manipulate and detect light using meta-optics, a new technology that replaces conventional lenses with nano-surfaces.

Our Outreach program has been designed to entertain and engage young Australians, encouraging them to be future leaders and innovators in STEM careers. We will introduce our audiences to the science behind the optics and help them understand the new industrial revolution – Industry 4.0

This event is supported by Goulburn Valley Libraries and the Greater Shepparton Foundation.

This is a free event. No booking needed.
