Biography:

Dr. Haggren is a research fellow at the Australian National University. He received his PhD degree in 2016 in the field of nanofabrication from Aalto University, Finland. Prior to that, he received Master’s Degree from Aalto University in 2011 (passed with distinction). His PhD studies focused on nanowire epitaxy and nanofabrication of optoelectronic nanowire devices. During the PhD work, he was granted a doctoral school position (incl. 3yrs salary) as well as a total of six incentive grants.

In 2017-2018 Dr. Haggren worked as a postdoctoral researcher in another group at Aalto University focusing on epitaxy of planar III-V structures and fabrication of thermophotonic devices. He then received funding for a personal research project that he planned, executed and led at the Australian National University in 2019-2021. In the research project he developed epitaxial lift-off methods for III-V thin films and flexible optoelectronic devices.

In 2021, Dr. Haggren joined TMOS at the Australian National University as a research fellow. His research focuses on metamaterials, III-V semiconductors, thin films and nanofabrication. He is TMOS Research Program Manager for “Nanoscale lasers and laser arrays”. Dr. Haggren has published ~30 research articles and has written one patent.
