Rifat Ahmmed Aoni is a PhD candidate at the Department of Electronic Materials Engineering (EME), The Australian National University, Australia since May 2017. He received his M.Eng.Sc degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Malaya, Malaysia in January 2016 and a Bachelor of Science degree in Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering from Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology, Bangladesh in September 2012. He also worked as a Research Assistant (2.5 years) on a project entitled "Integrated Photonics for Biosensor" at the University of Malaya, Malaysia.
He has received several prestigious awards including SPIE Optics and Photonics Education Scholarships 2018, travel grants (6 times), best paper awards and so on. His research interest focuses on Nanophotonics, Dielectric/ Plasmonic Metasurfaces, Plasmonics, Optical Sensors, Photonic Crystal Fiber, and Optical Devices. To date, he has published 4 book chapters and over 35 peer-reviewed journal articles. He also serving as a guest editor (Photonics Journal, MDPI) and scientific reviewer for more than 40 different journals including Advanced Materials, Scientific Reports, Advanced Optical Materials, Laser & Photonics Reviews, ACS Omega, ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, Optics Letters, Optics Express, and so on. He is an active member of OSA, SPIE, IEEE, IAENG and ANN.
