Dr. Tieshan Yang received his B.Sc. in Applied Physics from Ludong University, China in 2012 and his M.Sc. in Optical Engineering from Beijing University of Technology, China in 2015. He joined Centre for Translational Atomaterials (CTAM), Swinburne University of Technology, Australia for his PhD study in 2016 and obtained his PhD in 2020. After that, he engaged in CTAM, Swinburne University of Technology as a research assistant. Then, he joined University of Technology Sydney (UTS) and the ARC Centre of Excellence for Transformative Meta-Optical Systems (TMOS) UTS Node as a postdoctoral research associate in Quantum Materials and Nanophotonics group led by Professor Igor Aharonovich in March 2021. His research interests focus on 2D materials, nonlinear optics, nanofabrication, single photon emitters and functional photonics devices.
As the first-author or leading contributor, he has published about 30 top-quality scientific papers in highly regarded international journals and conferences, including Advanced Materials (co-1st author), Journal of Materials Chemistry A (1st author), Chemistry of Materials (1st author), ACS Photonics (1st author), ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces (2nd author), The Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters (2nd author), Nature Communications (3rd author) and Journal of American Chemical Society (4th author) et al.
Also, he has been awarded several prestigious prizes, including 2017 Annual Best Student Award (only one awardee, top 4%), 2018 Annual Publication Award (only one awardee, top 4%), 2018 INOS KOALA Conference Travel Award, 2019 HDR Outstanding Article Award (only one awardee, top 2%), 2019 ICNASA Conference Best Poster Award, 2020 ANN bursary to attend ICONN, 2020 SPIE Travel Award, 2020 HDR Outstanding Published Award, Swinburne University of Technology (commendation, top 4%), and 2020 FSET Postgraduate Student of the Year, Swinburne University of Technology (commendation, top 4%) et al.
