Monica Allen is a is a Senior Research Electronics Engineer at the Munitions Directorate, Air Force Research Laboratory, Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. Her research focuses on resonant sensing platforms for EO/IR technologies and components that can find applications in detection and sensing. Her primary areas of interest include nonlinear optical, photonic, and plasmonic physics concepts through the exploitation of light-matter interactions. Her other research interests include investigation of nonlinear optical phenomena and quantum photonic devices at infrared wavelengths. Her current projects range from modeling, simulation and fabrication of micro- and nano-structures for gain and selectivity enhancement to characterization of fabricated devices to test their performance. She spent several years in industry working on highly sensitive sensing systems based on optical arrays and magnetostrictive materials. In the past, she has worked at the Air Force Research Laboratory, Sensors Directorate at Hanscom AFB and Wright Paterson AFB and has a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington. She is affiliated with the Electrical Engineering honor society, Eta Kappa Nu; Engineering honor society, Tau Beta Pi; Honor society of Science and Engineering Research, Sigma Xi; and Senior Member, IEEE
