K. K. M. B. Dilusha Silva (Member, IEEE) received the degree (Hons.) in physics and electronic engineering from The University of Western Australia (UWA), WA, Australia, and the Ph.D. degree in optical imaging technologies for biomedical applications in 2004. He has worked both in industry and academia and is currently a Research Professor and the Engineering Manager with the Microelectronics Research Group, UWA. Since returning to UWA in 2009, his research interests include optical MEMS sensors, optical spectroscopic sensors, and MEMS biosensors. He has attracted funding for his research from the agriculture and aerospace sectors, and the government; and is presently leading a number of MEMS related research efforts at MRG, with strong commercial links to both the agricultural and aerospace sectors.
